Blizzard Entertainment has announced that Overwatch will be free to play for PS4 and Xbox One users during the second weekend of September — sorry PC gamers, the free weekend is exclusive to consoles. The Overwatch Free Weekend will start on September 9 at 11 am PT and end on September 12 at 4 pm PT. You can find your regions start time in the reference guide below.

Unlike the beta, the free weekend will feature Overwatch‘s full roster of 22 heroes and 13 maps that will be available to play in a variety of modes. The modes available during the free weekend will include Quick Play, Custom Games, AI Matches, Tutorials, and the Weekly Brawl.

Throughout the weekend, players will be able to level up, earn Loot Boxes, and unlock different customization options via the Hero Gallery. One of the coolest features of the free weekend is that any progress you make will be saved and made available should you decide to purchase Overwatch: Origins Edition after the free weekend ends.

Blizzard has also announced that NO PlayStation Plus will be required for the Free Weekend, however, a current Xbox Live Gold subscription will be needed for those playing on the Xbox One. The size of the Free Weekend client will be 9GB on PlayStation 4 and 15GB on Xbox One.

Overwatch is a competitive multiplayer shooter where two teams of six go head to head in battle. Each player must select from one of several predefined hero characters, with each hero coming with their own unique movement, attributes, and skills. Players must work as a team to secure and defend control points on a map and/or escort a payload across a map in a limited amount of time.

Overwatch is without a doubt one of the biggest games to launch this year. The game has received an outpouring of positive feedback with GameSkinny’s own ChrisDeCoster giving Overwatch a 10 out of 10 in his review of the game.

If you are still not convinced, give Overwatch a try during its Free Weekend during the 9th and 12th September.
