Toxic Games – the developers that brought us the first Q.U.B.E. game – announced on the PlayStation blog this week that Q.U.B.E. 2 will be coming to PS4. The sequel will build upon the physics puzzles of the first game as well as integrate Project Morpheus – Sony’s virtual reality headset.
Managing director Dan Da Rocha assures us in the blog post that Q.U.B.E. 2 will bring players a “slew of new and exciting puzzles that will boggle your mind”, along with a tightly-woven narrative to help expand the Qube universe and draw players deeper into it. The inclusion of functionality with Project Morpheus also means that Q.U.B.E. 2 will physically immerse players in the puzzles they’re solving.
Imagine trying to solve puzzles similar to the ones in the video above by physically using your hands and body – in a virtual 3-D environment. That is what Q.U.B.E. 2 intends to bring fans. No official release date has been announced yet, but for full Project Morpheus functionality, development will undoubtedly take a while. Even so, according to the blog post, Toxic has already been testing the hardware for Morpheus extensively and getting ideas for how they’re going to implement it once Sony provides development kits.
