Black Ops Cold War’s New Zombies Map, Firebase Z, Revealed

Call of Duty's latest free update is all about zombies and launches on February 4, bringing a classic map with it.

Treyarch have been placing a clear focus on Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s Zombies mode recently. Having offered fans a free access week for it two weeks ago, they’ve now confirmed that the Dark Aether story will continue within Firebase Z, launching next week, February 4, as a free update.

Marking the second chapter of this saga, Firebase Z takes place in Vietnam after the events of Die Maschine, seeing a group of special forces soldiers transported to this hellish dimension via a Dark Aether portal. Grigori Weaver is back to provide his support too, looking to save Samantha Maxis.

A trailer accompanying the announcement offers a clear look at what to expect. Bringing in a fairly large playing field around a military outpost, several new enemies are present, including a terrifyingly large zombie cyclops that fires lasers.

That’s not the only thing coming either. The classic Express map from the original Black Ops series is due to return, alongside a 40-player Endurance mode. Prop Hunt update is also getting new maps within this update. Stay tuned to GameSkinny as we continue bringing you updates on Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.
